April 29 is Veterans' Legislative Day in Springfield

Senator Bill Brady is encouraging all Illinois veterans, and friends and families of service members to participate in the third annual Veterans’ Legislative Day set for April 29 in Springfield.

The Legislative Day will provide briefings, updates from members of the Senate’s Veterans Affairs Committee, and opportunities for veterans to meet with legislators. The third annual event is hosted by the Senate Republican Caucus.

The event will begin with check-in from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Auditorium of the Howlett Building directly south of the Capitol Building. The day’s programs will begin at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided for all veterans and their guests who RSVP by April 23.

Registration is being conducted online at http://www.vets.senategop.net. Those who do not have Internet access, can make reservations by calling 217-782-0797.

Additional information – including a map showing the location of the Howlett Building in the Capitol Complex, as well as updates on the event – is also available at the Web site.

Although hosted by the Republican Senators, Senator Brady emphasized that the event will be strictly non-partisan. Participants include a Federal VA Benefits Specialist, Central Illinois Honor Flight, Illinois Military History Museum, Korean War Veterans’ Museum, and representatives from statewide, legislative and Congressional offices.
