About Senator Brady

Bill Brady has served as 44th District Senator since May 2002. He served as State Representative for the 88th District from 1993 to 2001.

During his tenure as a legislator, he has worked to increase education accountability and funding, and sponsored reforms of workers’ compensation and medical malpractice laws. He has championed reforms in the state’s insurance and financial industries that became a national model, passed legislation to guarantee health insurance for retired teachers, sponsored laws that promote highway safety through more training for young drivers, and led the way in efforts to restore integrity to state government, ensuring the best use of the taxpayers’ dollars.

Senator Brady was named Assistant Senate Republican Leader in February 2011. He is the ranking Republican for the Senate Insurance Committee, and a member of the Senate Energy Committee, the Senate Environment Committee, the Senate Executive Committee, and the Senate Pensions and Investments Committee. He serves on the Audit Commission and on the American Legislative Exchange Council. He is a member of ICHIP and IHSA, and served on the Illinois Commission on Pension Funding.

Locally he is currently a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Community Board, Westminster Retirement Village Board, Catholic Charities Diocese of Peoria, Decatur Chamber of Commerce and Lincoln Logan County Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the United Way Board Campaign Chairman, Illinois Wesleyan Association Board, Heartland Community College Foundation Board, Diocese of Peoria Lay Board, Susan G. Komen Board, Illinois State University Business College Advisory Board, Central Catholic High School Foundation Board, and YMCA Board.

Bill Brady was born May 15, 1961, in Bloomington, Illinois. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and Illinois Wesleyan University.

Over the course of his professional career, he has founded and operated several businesses, mostly focused in the areas of housing development and marketing. He is a member of the local, state and national Association of Realtors, McLean County Chamber of Commerce, and Home Builders Association.

Bill and his wife, Nancy, live in Bloomington. They have three children, Katie, a nurse at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago; William, a second-year student at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago; and Duncan, a junior at Central Catholic High School.
